A centre of excellence in R&D with an international reach!

Drummondville, December 7, 2016– The team from Venmar Ventilation ULC, part of the Broan-Nutone LLC, recently presented its impressive new developments at a special event attended by members of the press and various stakeholders from Drummondville. The Drummondville-based company, which has been improving air quality for homeowners for over 35 years, was selected to host three centres of excellence of the Air Quality and Home Solutions (AQH) division of Broan-NuTone LLC.

A leader in innovation and a global centre of excellence
The company has distinguished itself in recent years by offering a complete line of air exchangers, central vacuums, and range hoods for the residential sector. Its products can be found across North America under the Venmar, Broan and NuTone brands, as well as many other brands of residential products. The company has made a name for itself within the group thanks to its product development processes, the expertise of its team, and the business practices that have helped to solidify its reputation over the years. As a result, Venmar was appointed to oversee global research and development for products sold the world over, including China and Europe. “This is a real vote of confidence for Venmar,” stated David Barrow, General Manager of AQH Canada since last spring, who also really enjoys the entrepreneurial spirit of Drummondville. “In my opinion, Drummondville
is the best-kept secret in Québec,” he added with assurance.

This makes Venmar the research and innovation centre for three of the group’s big product categories: indoor air exchangers, kitchen ventilation and central vacuums. “This centre of excellence is recognition for their talent, resources, and ingenuity. Their expertise will be shared throughout the world, through innovative products that will allow the group to capture a larger share of the market,” added Mr. Barrow.

Investments and job creation
The company currently has more than 350 employees at three plants in Drummondville. Venmar's centre of excellence, which has been in the works for the past few months, will result in several changes within the company and create over 25 new engineering and marketing jobs by the end of 2017. The restructuring required an investment of more than $5 million dollars, including a complete renovation of over 5,400 sq. ft. of office space and conference rooms at the facility on boulevard Lemire.
